International Women in Engineering Day

Each year on 23 June, International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), led by the Women’s Engineering Society, shines a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of women in STEM. This global awareness campaign not only celebrates achievements but also challenges organisations to accelerate gender equity in engineering roles. At 3P innovation, we view INWED as an opportunity to reflect on our progress, amplify the voices of our female engineers, and reaffirm our commitment to a inclusive workforce.

Despite positive momentum, women remain underrepresented in the engineering workforce. INWED compels us to go beyond performative gestures and take tangible steps: celebrating visible female role models, building structures that support career progression, and creating environments where all engineers, regardless of gender, can thrive. Our team includes a growing number of exceptional women whose technical expertise, leadership, and collaborative mindset have shaped everything from product innovation to global client delivery.

'What excited you most about your role or the future of engineering?'

"What excites me most is how fast engineering is evolving. 3P is at the forefront of innovation in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in supporting the advancement of automation for cell and gene therapies. These groundbreaking treatments have the potential to transform how we treat diseases, and engineering plays a critical role in making them scalable, safe, and accessible. The automation systems we design are helping to streamline complex manufacturing processes, improve precision, improve throughput and ensure high-quality products.  'Advice you’d give to girls thinking about engineering'

"Try it out! The Engineering Development Trust runs lots of events where you can try out what it’s like to be an engineer. See if you can find work experience at an engineering company. This year’s INWED theme speaks directly to the transformative impact of diverse teams. The more inclusive our sector becomes, the more capable we are of solving complex challenges and pushing boundaries.

As we celebrate INWED, we also acknowledge there is more to be done. Our goal is not simply to mark a date on the calendar, but to ensure that inclusion is embedded into the core of our culture and engineering excellence. To all the women in engineering, past, present, and future, we thank you for your contributions, and we commit to doing the work that ensures your impact continues to be recognised and amplified.

Past and Present

At 3P innovation, several of our meeting rooms proudly bear the names of pioneering female engineers and inventors: Ada Lovelace, Verena Holmes, Hedy Lamarr, and Grace Hopper. These spaces honour trailblazers who broke boundaries, challenged convention and paved the way for future generations. Their legacies serve as daily inspiration, reminding us of the vital role women have played (and continue to play) in shaping progress across STEM.
