2019's Highlights

2019's Highlights

This has been an exciting year for the 3P team. With new product launches, the inauguration of our new building, strong business growth and multitude of events attended, this post reviews some of the key highlights to wrap up the year.

  • January:

We kick-started the year with the sale of an R1000 Robotic Capsule Filler to Arcinova, the leading UK CDMO serving global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. They were awarded a £1 million ($1.27M) UK Goverment grant to develop a digital manufacturing platform to accelerate the production time of patient specific medicines as part of their Fill-Inova project.  Fill-Inova delivers a highly-targeted approach, leading to medicines that are highly potent or highly precise in their mode of action.

  • February:

Salut! - Our first trip abroad of the year! The 3P team flew to Paris to attend Pharmapack 2019. We show-cased our latest Fill2Weight technology alongside the versatile VF1 Vibratory Filler for lab-scale, GMP filling.

  • March:

We worked with Consort Medical to precisely fill and vacuum stopper their novel UnidoseTM Xtra nasal spray device (a great solution for the treatment of anaphylaxis, pain, migraine and, in particular, opioid overdose).  For this application we created the first version of the highly-versatile F2V liquid fill-finish platform, ideal for low-volume, GMP and sterile filling of cartridges, PFS, vials and custom containers.

  • April:

Busy in Boston!  It was great to catch up with our friends on the other side of the pond, where we attended the SMI Pre-Filled Syringes East Coast in Boston.  We presented several case studies, including 3 machines we designed and developed for SteadyMed for the manufacture, filling and testing of their PatchPumpTM technology. Their initial drug candidate is Treprostinil for the treatment of PAH (pulmonary arterial hypertension).

  • May:

On 13th May our friend Professor Gino Martini officially inaugurated our brand-new facility in Warwick.  We were also pleased to join our inhalation colleagues at RDD 2019 in Lisbon!

  • June:

Hello, have I seen you before?  We have welcomed over 33 new people to the 3P team this year across all disciplines; the office and the workshop are full of new faces!

  • July:

Great news for all chocoholics out there - the world's first Cadbury Dairy Milk 3D printer was successfully launched on World Chocolate Day in Australia!  3P supported Mondelez International with process development and production technologies, culminating in design and manufacture of an 8-lane, custom machine.

  • August:

Another year flies by and we have to say goodbye to our annual placement students as they return to university to continue their studies.  This year we celebrated the end of a great year together with an adrenaline-fuelled afternoon Go Karting!

  • September:

We were pleased to welcome five new placement students to the 3P team.  Our students are allocated to projects from day 1, becoming key members of the team and gaining valuable experience across a wide range of engineering and project-related activities.

  • October:

The team travelled to PODD 2019 in Boston and to Sweden for the PDA 2019 Conference, where we officially launched our latest, sterile F2V liquid-fill finish platform.

  • November:

On 29th November we celebrated the first anniversary of moving in to our Bosworth Avenue facility.  To mark the occasion, we held a charity lunch in support of  Macmillan Cancer Support, raising a total of £344!

  • December:

It was a pleasure to be back in Edinburgh at the 30th Drug Delivery to the Lungs (DDL).  We revealed our latest R1000 Capsule and Device Filler, complete with negative pressure isolator and local HEPA filtration.

It has been a busy, exciting and action-packed year at 3P. We cannot wait to see what 2020 brings!
