A day of insight, collaboration and industry progress

On Thursday 12th February, we hosted the UK Pharmaceutical & MedTech Innovations Event in partnership with ISPE UK Affiliate, bringing together industry leaders, technical specialists and innovators from across the sector. The event provided a platform to explore the operational, regulatory and technical challenges shaping pharmaceutical and advanced therapy manufacturing today.

Speaker highlights

  • Nova Laboratories Limited

Simon Phillips delivered a comprehensive session on key aseptic processing considerations for viral vectors and live biologics. His presentation covered regulatory status, inspection readiness, and Nova’s latest work in gene therapies, offering valuable insight into the realities of bringing advanced therapies to market.

  • Upperton Pharma Solutions

Laura Mason shared expert perspectives on nasal and pulmonary drug delivery. A notable takeaway was that there is still no commercially available multi-dose nasal powder device, underlining the technical and commercial complexities that remain in this area.

  • ISPE UK Affiliate Women in Pharma

We also heard how the Women in Pharma initiative continues to support learning and development across the industry, fostering greater inclusion and professional growth throughout the sector.

  • 3P innovation

David Phasey, Innovation Director at 3P, addressed three critical operational challenges facing manufacturers today:

    • Visual inspection
    • Material transfers
    • Application of first air
His session reinforced an important message: innovation is not only about breakthrough technologies. It also depends on mastering the fundamentals of process control, contamination prevention and operational excellence.
